In need of something special for your vacation? Are you longing for new horizons, something blue and sunny, something a little exotic something new, fresh? Something smart and exciting, something to learn, some new places and cultures to discover and also a great way to meet people and to get a nice sun tan when back in the big city?
Do you need an adventure, gorgeous Caribbean beaches, lagoons where you can play the Robinson, have a band fire and grill your catch? Do you need authentic markets, local restaurants and bars where you can get loose and party late between the stars and the fluorescent crystalline waters where you end taking a dive late at night. Do you need also at times a top resort to enjoy a break, some place to rest and to be active AND to have fun? Do you think this is incompatible?
Take a sailing vacation...
What if we were taking you on an elegant sailboat with all the comfort you should expect from a stylish skippered yacht charter to go on a sailing vacation, a week long sailing cruise or more around the most beautiful sailing areas worldwide? More than a yacht charter, a real sailing adventure, a sailing voyage that will take you close to people to discover their culture, their lifestyle and their unique, spectacular environment.
Whether you want to discover new countries and their inhabitants and cultures, whether you want simply to suntan and swim or dive in the clearest waters, or take that sailing class for which you haven't found the time...
If you want to discover the pleasure of spectacular skippered sailing vacations with top level Skippers - Instructors at time - of the Manhattan Yacht club and Sailing School we have a worldwide sailing charter and sailing cruise program waiting for you.
Thierry Lassalle, Sailing Instructor (ASA), in partnership with the Manhattan Sailing Club and the Manhattan Sailing School have created a unique crewed sailing vacation program. Crewed by who? By you and skippered by the instructors and skippers of the Manhattan Sailing Club and Sailing School. Call it a sailing cruise, a skippered yacht charter or a sailing charter program, Thierry and his fellow Instructors and Skippers from the Club will take you on 5 continents this year. We are also working on new destinations - some more challenging like Antarctica, Japan and some passage making - for the next winter 2007-2008. These sailing charters are open to all, whether you are a member of the club or not and whether you have sailing experience or not - Cape Horn is not on the program for this year... Not yet...
Amazing experience, great prices and fantastic destinations!
Because Thierry has crewed and skippered sailing yachts in most of these sailing destinations, he has worked out a network of sailing professionals and travel specialists which allow us to propose these skippered yacht charters at amazing prices - including air fares that are negotiated directly with Airlines or consolidators- if you respect the deadlines in terms of confirmation of your flights and boats.
These sailing charters are organized to maximize the time on the sailboat and except for far away destinations, you are not required to book a hotel prior and after the cruise. Please note that these sailboats offer all the comfort you could expect from your sailing vacation. Prices include the charter and the skipper fee, as well as food and drinks (yes we do like to drink onboard and we have a full bar), gas, mooring and harbors fees as well as your airport transfers in most cases.
Check out the Destinations' page - or click the map below - to get more information about pricing and itineraries. Get in the Forum and leave us your comments and questions.
What about taking a sailing trip this year? Or two or three?
These sailing trips are open to all, whether you are a sailor and belong to the Manhattan sailing club or you were a student of the Manhattan sailing school or not.
Do you feel shy about sailing? Is it about your sailing skills??? Not a problem if ... you know how to party, to relax and to swim... These skippered sailing vacations are organized by fun and professional sailors and with a club with more than 20 years of experience. Most of the crew is composed of skippers and experienced crew members from our Sailing Club, or students from our Sailing School. In addition, skippers don't need a full crew on the deck. These sailing charters are before all vacations (although sailing classes and courses are generally offered), and skippers make sure they are crewed adequately to allow non-sailors to enjoy their time on board. So enjoy your vacation, because sailing is not just about sailing. We know it.
Sailing is about swimming in the turquoise lagoons in Tahiti, the spectacular waters of the Caribbean in the Grenadines, the BVIs, the Seychelles and the pure untouched beauty of the reefs, the Tonga and sailing between the whales, Sicily the wine and la pasta "al l'Arrabiata, Monaco the Grand Prix, the old harbor and the amazing sailboats, the Yacht Club, the casinos.
Sailing is also about trekking in the rain forests of Thailand, the Thai Cuisine and the Buddhist Temples, Brazil for the Caiperinhia, la Samba and the joy of so much beauty, Malaysia for its sea caves and the Chinese New year, Greece in Santorini and the ruins of Delos just across Mykonos, Ibiza and the parties, Barcelona the "Ramblas" packed at 3 am and the museums, the architecture, and the sea, the sun, the fun of getting loose and forgetting the top and sometimes at late hours...the bottom.
Beyond everything, a sailing trip is about this exhilarating feeling to arrive somewhere unknown under sails on a great sailboat with all the comfort and the luxury and having the time to make a sense of other cultures, other environments, different people and in some ways of ourselves.
Sailing is about to learn how to appreciate them, a voyage to find out about others and yourself... Come along, there is much more than landscapes to discover...
Select one on these pictures to get to the Brazil page. Look for other sailing adventures on the left side. Check itinerary, our sailing yachts and boats, and the practical tips. Some of these sailing grounds are far but it would be surprising if you had nothing interesting to discover about them. If you come you will discover something that will blow your mind away.
It's about the scenery, about the people, their culture and joie de vivre, about their history, their passions, their music and their way of loving who they are. Some of these sailing grounds are unique. Brazil, Tahiti, France, Italy, the Grenadine, the BVI's, Thailand, Belize, the Tonga and the Seychelles...These are more than sailing trips. You will never forget them! The Manhattan Sailing club and Sailing School have been in business for 20 years this year and sail with about 30 yachts, sailboats and top level school (J24) and racing boats (America's cup end else). We are the largest sailing school and sailing club in New York and we have trained thousands of students to the joy of sailing and of chartering. We believe we know what we are talking about.
If you want to learn more about sailing courses and classes click our link to our New York page or the ASA sailing course to the right. Remember that taking a sailing class is not an obligation, although sailing course certification are at times offered during the sailing trip at great prices.
