| Hotels prices and options
There are 2 Options possible: Note that Hotel names and prices are only indicative as availability will evolve. Nevertheless it should be possible to stay within the range of prices and category of hotel given.
Hotel Option 1. Hotel 3 stars in Copacabana – Price $45.00 pp and per night in double occupancy. $60.00 single.
The hotel Martinique Copa Hotel is an eight-story hotel is located on Copacabana Beach, 4 km (2.5 miles) from the Sugar Loaf and Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. Brightly-colored guestrooms with wood floors and Brazilian paintings, high-speed Internet access, complimentary breakfast buffet and 24-hour room service, and rooftop pool bar, 10 minutes from downtown and has a free car service to take us anywhere around. It is a clean safe hotel on the beach. Cost for the hotel night is $50.00 pp in double occupancy (and $75 in single).
This makes the cost per person with flight and hotel at ($620.00 + $150.00) $770.00 if you leave from NYC on Thursday (with 3 hotel nights; Thursday, Friday and the Saturday a week later just before departure).
If you choose to depart from NYC Friday evening the cost is the same $770.00 (including the night of sat just before departure) because your flight is more expensive ($720.00 + $50.00).
Hotel Option 2. Hotel Marriott 4 stars in Copacabana next to the Martinic – Price per night $280.00, that is $140.00 pp and per night in double occupancy.
The WM Marriot hotel, a 16-story, full-service hotel faces Copacabana Beach and is within a 10-minute drive of many attractions. High-speed Internet access, laptop-size in-room safes, and minibars are provided, and some rooms have ocean views. An outdoor pool is located on the rooftop, and there is also a fitness center and a sauna.
If you departed from New York on Thursday morning total cost is ($620 + 3x$140 =) $1040.00 with the flight.
If you departed from New York on Friday evening total cost is ($720 + $140) that is $860.00.
As you may have noticed both hotels are close to each other to allow us to meet and do things together if you wish. Also this area is safe and is close to downtown, major attractions and nightlife. I would not recommend to choose a hotel without knowing the area as you might end up really far away, or very close to favellas and all the riff raff that you might want to avoid if you want to play it safe. Although I would recommend to take a tour of the favellas and you will discover really welcoming and nice people. Yes there some bad guys too, like in NYC right?
As for me I prefer to spend as much time as possible which happened to be the most economic solution despite the hotel cost, that is flight plus 3 hotel nights for $760.00.
Globally this trip should cost you less than what we have paid for our fantastic trip to the BVIs and give you more time to sail and to travel.
