| Brazil Sailing Vacation - Rio de Janeiro April 15 to April 23, 2008
Easter in Rio de Janeiro Tired of the snow and the cold? Thinking about Easter time… The bunny rabbits and the chocolate eggs as a possible activity while bracing up for the last blows of winter in New York? We have a better idea... BRAZIL !
Take a unique sailing adventure and cruise one of the most spectacular destinations in Brazil. With so many islands off the coast to explore, only a sailboat can take you there. We are going to Rio de Janeiro, and Angra dos Reis and their 360 tropical islands.
Why a yacht charter in Brazil?
- 360 islands, 2000 beaches off the cost in Angra. - Crystalline waters, spectacular beaches, luscious tropical protected environment (ecological sanctuary and natural park), amazing fauna and flora, authentic food, best drinks and parties, very friendly people. - A mix of top level facilities and authenticity. - Ideal warm & dry weather conditions with constant winds. - A unique and truly fascinating cultural blend & influences. - Safe cruising grounds and areas. - Beautiful snorkeling, diving and surfing areas. - We have negotiated Airfares between $620,00-$720,00. - Your skippers love it!
Brazil is one of the best-kept secrets for a sailing charter. It will surprise and delight your senses and believe me much more than the best chocolate!

Briefly about the sailing trip
This long week sailing vacation is strategically timed to encompass the Easter Friday and Monday. Check with your company as you may be able to use less vacation days than you are actually taking. For the itinerary check this link out.
Yacht Charter cost is $1650.00 including skipper, food and booze, taxes etc. Hotels + Airfares are $750.00 to $1000.00 depending you departure date and the class of hotel (from 3 to 5 stars). See Airfares and Hotels options. Sailing is from Sat. March 15th through Sat March 23rd.
Price for airfare + hotel is $760.00 pp whether you depart Thursday or Friday and whether you spend 3 hotel nights or only 1 in a very nice 3 stars hotel in Copacabana in Rio. The airfare is more expensive on Friday, but you spend less nights. See Airfare prices and Options. You may upgrade your hotel to a top notch 5 stars resort. See Hotel prices and options.
The total cost for these 10 days of vacation (or 8) is $1750 + $760 (it's the same check out Airfare and Hotel options) and with food & booze on the boat, hotel nights, boat charter and airfare (except transfers). Just FYI the best airfare to Rio published on Orbitz as of Sept 25th is $966.00.
If you want to discover Brazil and have a lot of fun you will not be able to find a more inexpensive way to do so!
This doesn't mean that we doing it cheaply... Check these links out and you'll see that we are using top level amenities and boats. Email us quickly to declare your interest so that we can pre-book your flights. Feel free to ask any questions.

How to declare your interest and register for charter?
Declare your interest or register by clicking the links on the right side of this page. If you are not quite ready to sign up for this sailing cruise but would like more information, please fill out the declare your interest form on the right and Thierry will contact you by email.
Please remember that Thierry has worked out a special packaged deal with an Air line to get the cheapest possible rate and that there is a time limit to it. After that you will have to deal with much more expensive airfare at a very busy period. In other words the earlier you register, the better it is.
You can also e-mail Kelly Wilson at the Sailing club.
Courses available for this sailing trip
All classes are available at a special price of $450 per person (discounted from $600.00, our normal rates at the school in New York) without certification. Add $50 per class for the American Sailing Association Certification. In both cases you will get a full training package and a book.
For more information about the curriculum in order to prepare for the classes follow the link below.
Cost
of the Sailing Vacation - Provisioning and menus. The Charter Cost with one or two classes is $1,750 + classes cost if you wish to take one. You might as well just relax and sun tan during the whole. Note that this sailing vacation week is open to all, members and non members, sailors or no.
Food and drinks, mooring fees are also included at the conditions describes below.
In the cost of the charter are included 7 breakfast/lunches and 4/5 dinners. It is called split provisioning which allow us to get out and discover the local lifestyle and nightlife. We do this together or not. Individual agendas are respected and encouraged as long as they respect the necessity of the board and of the itinerary. That way we can get a real sense of the local lifestyle, and nightlife, restaurants and resorts and discover traditional food and drinks.
Provisioning is organized one week before departure and you need to tell Thierry about your preferences and allergies prior to this date.
A full bar with all sorts of alcohols, and others liquids such as juices and water are also included. Although the cost doesn't include wine and bier (except for the first day) that each crew will have to pay separately.
Why? Because not everybody drinks 12 biers a day, because not everybody drinks red wine or white, because some don’t like what Thierry buys… Because we don’t like to throw things away, because it’s much nicer to go to a restaurant or a bar after a long day of sailing allowing us to discover together OR independently (some of us do need a break sometimes) the areas AND the people around… Because we have done it … and it works.
To see an Indicative menu select the link. Remember that we adjust with fresh local products… and that we try to accommodate everybody's preference
Note Kevin's comments to his darling Chris on the boat few weeks earlier. "Babe why do we eat better on a boat in the middle of nowhere than in New York City?" Thanks Kev... Check out the picture below. This appetizing Shrimp mango drakar won best prize during the last BVI's flotilla cruise in January. Merci Daniel!
Note that all images are actual pictures taken in Rio or around Angra dos Reis (except for Daniel's Drakar). |
