| Sicily - Aeolian Islands - Amalfi Coast Sailing Vacation
A 2 weeks back and forth sailing trip from Tropea in Calibria to East Sicily the Aeolians Islands and Amalfi
June 30th-July 7th and July 7th - 14th 2007
South Western Italian Splendors.
A voyage to the best of what Italy has to offer packed with mythical landscapes from Messine and Taormina, through the famous strait of Messina, to Taormina, the Aeolians islands of Lipari and Vulcano, to Positano, Pompeii and Herculaneum, Napoli, Sorrento, Capri and Salerno, under the Etna, the Stromboli and the Vesuvio volcanos.
This itinerary offers the best combination of highlights for a sailing vacation; Fantastic sailing grounds and mythic passages, typical and spectacular locations, top level sceneries and the best food and wine. The return trip will stop in different spots but will follow the same logic as indicated for the first week.
Each day we will propose activities ranging from sightseeing, food and wine testing, diving and snorkeling, historical sites discovery, natural sites (volcano) and spas experience, and of course beautiful sailing. We will cruise from wild natural areas (Lipari and Aeolian Islands) to the most exclusive resorts (Capri, Positano, Ischia) as well as picturesque destinations such as Messina, Taormina, Napoli, Sorrento and Salerno.
We encourage individual agenda and will coordinate with the crew to facilitate specific interests.
This itinerary is only indicative of the wonders we might want to discover. It will be adjusted with the crew to balance the interests of everyone and depending upon the weather conditions
Itinerary Map
Indicative Itinerary day by day We start from Tropea
Day 1- Tropea to Messina/Taormina via the Strait of Messina.
Day 2 - Messina/Taormina to the Aeolian Island of Lipari
Day 3 - Lipari to the Stromboli
Day 4 - Stromboli to Positano and or Sorrento
Day 5 - Positano (or Sorrento) to Napoli, Pompeii and Herculaneum
Day 6 - Napoli to Ischia or Capri
Day 7 - Ishia/Capri to Salerno
You will notice that itinerary is shorter than 8 days. This is to allow us either to remain longer in some sites that we would like to discover more or to add a segment to the sailing itinerary (Ischia, Sorrento, Ventofene, Pontine islands or else).
In addition due to the proximity of the destinations for the second part of the itinerary, it will be possible to organize later pick up for crew willing to remain on shore for a day or two in order to discover more specific areas on their own.
The second week is a return trip and will follow the same logic. We will simply visit different places that for the first week and we will try to spend more time in the areas that we loved going to Amalfi. We will end in Tropea on Sat July 14th.
Except for a 10 hours sail on day 4, this itinerary will commonly require 3 to 5 hours of sailing per day. No special sailing qualifications or equipments are required. You might just want to make sure you are not allergic to Italian wine and food...
Cost for the trip. This trip is booked week by week. Cost for only one week is $1650 - including food and drinks (ref. Menus and provisioning) - Cost for 2 weeks is $1450 per week. Regular discounts are applicable - see discount policy. Transportation. As the city of departure and return are not set in stone we would suggest that you book a NYC |
